im really happy with ware this project has gone from ware i started to ware i am now i think the work has evolved from the start ware i really wasnt sure what i was shooting and for what reason to now ware i have a much clearer understanding to why and what i am shooting i dont think this is the end of the project but really the start of a much bigger serise looking at sporting arears so really this now is the starting point for a much bigger project and it will be nice beacuse i will hopefully creat this large serirse of work that is cohesive and will fit into my portfolio.

target market

i was quite confused with what to do here. but i am starting to see my work is marketed towards the high end looking at creating a book from this project and exhibition would be ideal also to have the project put in portfolio would be nice. i do think that work with the art council as well will be needed to further my carrier as a photographer. i do though want the project to be self directed and motivated

Milton Keynes art Gallery, i am starting to think i will be wanting to do some volentire work for the gallery helping with curating exboditions over the summer. this is the main art gallery nearist to my home. i am going to look at small gallerys in london as well.

i havtn really updated it yet but i have been speaking to a second year graphic desginer about getting a new one together and the sort of style i have been thinking of is going to be very basice. with my images at the focouse of it now very fancy just showing what i need to and i want to be able to update it easly. iv been looking at Dan Holdworth web site as well as Stuart Wipps and i think these are good examples of what i want to have

symple and clean i think i want it near 17.5 pecent gray to have a nutural backround and wight wighting its going to be symular to the one i all reay have but i want to start showing my owrk as sesrs as i think im starting to get enouth of bodies of work together to produce this. i think it will need to on flash too as these seem to run smouther

Alen Kent 2 and final images

i like the diffent layers held thought out this image from the forground then how the its broken up by the wire fences to the backround also normal house showing ware this cort is in the middle of an exsate
i like the cheap sposure in the back round and the rich blue of the cort and how the vertical lines link up to draw you into the image
again with this image i like the amount of lines running thought the stronge verticals of the tennis netting and the lines of the tennis cort.
this image is of a grass cort that isnt in use at this time of the year i just found it intresting as their was only one post so it seems to make the space pointless

with this image im really impressed with the qulity of the digtal haslbalde give you can see it on this as its a small file but it seemes to cach all the deatil in the tress wich seems to really add somthing to the image
if i had the yello vertical line maching up with the fence i think it would of made this image much stronger but i liket the image still it shows the more grotty side of the sport perhaps cause tennis played as much as it use to or maybe its just the arear being blackpool, tennis can be seen as quite an upperclass sport, and blackpool is much more of a working class area so maybe thats explanes the state of these corts as apose to the ones above taken from a privte club in Lytham

i Just went to see alen again as i found him quite helpful i took to him 15 or so images as i now need to cut them down to 6 i think i have my final 6 after talking it thought just need to print them. so above are the final 6 not in any perticklualr orda but thats them.

Lytham

The last two shots are looking at the deatils more wich i think could become a project on its own and espley the last one is quite modernist. the frist of the images is a reshoot of a pevouse image as the last shot had a car and i dont want any people in the images and i think it works well. i went to a club in lytham now i think i do have the number of images i need its just about selecting my final images. i think i may get some help with this maybe alan kent could be handy

Lewis Baltz and the new topographic

Lewis Baltz is one of the key photographer to come out of the group the New Topographic. his work looks at the from of normal bulidings he did a serise photographying the tract houses of califournia showing this new west they recated to what ansel adams was showing he showed this prestine sulbulime landscape Lewis Baltzs was intrested in showing a “man-altered landscape”(W Jenkins, 1975) of tract houses which seems to be built in the middle of no where as well as the loneliness and isolation that attends this rapidly growing suburbia
They develop a new Western landscape aesthetic. A counter-aesthetic that showed the West as they saw it not glorifying it as the old school seemed to. They seemed to have a dispassionate and unsentimental view on the land. Walker Evans was the first photographer to really see the landscape in this way with his work for the F.S.A and can been seen as a huge influence to the group and their aesthetics. Ware photographers like Adams, Stieglitz and Steichen created these very romantic images showing this great expanse the work of the New Topographic was decidedly ironic.

The New Topographic photographers commanded the attention of the viewer thought typologies, but through the extensiveness of the projects and a detached objectivity. No people appear in Lewis Baltzs series ‘The New Industrial parks near Irvine, California’ even though that human presents is implied as it the function of buildings centrally. this is somthing that i want to keep with my work i dont want any pressence of humans in the images but i want it to be implayed as its the centural focouse of these spaces is for human interaction also the spaces mean nothing with out are intertation of the spaces and the lines and what they mean
