walker evans

Worked with the Farm Security Administratio he was commissioned alongside other photographer of the time to record the work of the FSA and their rehabilitation program also to document the daily lives of the farmers and flood victims

It is rare that a single image can stand for a moment in history it seems to sum up the situation of a suffering population as this dose. Evans spent several weeks with the Burroughs family. Who were sharecropper’s which meant that the family owned nothing they just leased everything from their landlord and owned nothing
